Youri Tielemans’ arrival at Arsenal this summer would certainly be welcomed by everyone associated with the club. But, Albert Sambi Lokonga would be the player who would benefit the most from the Belgian’s transfer to the Gunners.
Sambi Lokonga is following the same path as Tielemans in terms of breaking into the Anderlecht first team at a young age and then becoming the team’s captain before reaching the age of 20. Then finally take a big step into the European top five leagues.
Tielemans could be the perfect role model for Sambi Lokonga should he join the club. Sambi Lokonga struggled to adapt in his first season in the Premier League, but he still has the potential to succeed at Arsenal.

CBS Sports reported that the Gunners are currently the first to sign Youri Tielemans. Arsenal reportedly already knew the Belgian wouldn’t sign a new contract and could be available for as little as £25million.
Tielemans has played the most minutes compared to any other player aged 24 or under so far in his career, and that’s by far. Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus drops to second place, having played 10,000 minutes less than the midfielder.
The 24-year-old has been a Premier League regular for three seasons and has played an important role in Leicester’s Champions League push in recent campaigns. The midfielder’s impressive performances saw both Liverpool and Real Madrid interested in him.
But before moving to the Premier League, he graduated from the Anderlecht academy similar to Sambi Lokonga. The 21-year-old was signed by Arsenal to be Thomas Partey’s understudy ahead of this season.
Sambi Lokonga has been tasked with playing the anchor role on several occasions this season, and it’s a position he could nail down once he fully adjusts to the Premier League rhythm. The youngster is a player who thrives when he has confidence in his game but unfortunately lacked that during his difficult period after the start of the new year.
With Tielemans also facing setbacks in his career following a difficult spell at AS Monaco following his departure from Anderlecht, the 25-year-old could be the perfect role model for Sambi Lokonga. Not only do they play in the same position and for the same nation, but they have also followed a similar career trajectory.
